ACT ROGAINING ASSOCIATION BULLETIN‍

Spring, Creek, Trail 6/12 hr rogaine Saturday 19 October‍

The 2024 “Spring, Creek, Trail” Spring Rogaine will be held in the nearby Yanununbeyan Conservation Area and Yanununbeyan National Park on Saturday 19 October, commencing at 11:00am. Hash House is located at “Murdering Sheds Flat”, a lot of private land on Woolcara Lane that is much less threatening than its name (and is in fact really quite nice).

As usual, we will be running two events, a 6 hour and a 12 hour. The area is great unburnt rogaine country and offers the occasional surprise sweeping view of the surrounding farmland or back towards Canberra.

Entries are now open. $50 full entry and $40 concession. Solo entries are not permitted.

Camping is available overnight at the Hash House. Catering will be provided by Carwoola RFS at the end of both events. There will be no provided breakfast, so bring your own food if you are planning on staying overnight. All participants must bring their own plates, bowls, and cutlery.

Volunteer for the spring event‍, please!

We need a few volunteers to help on the day at the Spring event, including someone to help the new caterers set things up and know what to expect. If you would like to come and help out, even if it is only until after the 6 hr event please contact Tom by the website email.

Night and day rogaines‍ at Kowen Forest

The night and day rogaines at Kowen Forest were held at the end of August on a windy weekend. Congratulations to Nicholas Brennan and Oscar Brown for winning the night event and Caleb Addison and Seb Addison for winning the day event. See the website for results.

Australian Intervarsity Championship winners‍

Congratulations to Christopher Bradley, Ryan Stocks and Guyver Fu for taking out the 2024 Intervarsity Rogaining Championships. They represented the Australian National University. The event was combined with the Australasian Rogaining Championships where they also were second outright. An awesome result!

This result was in the unfamiliar terrain of the Western Australian jarrah forest east of Bunbury. It was a course that needed lots of running on trails in fairly flat terrain (1:50,000 map with 5 m contours) and strategic cross-country legs in the slower bush and pine forest.

Australasian Rogaining Champs 2024‍

The Australasian Rogaining Champs Mysterious Traveller rogaine was held in early September in Western Australia.

ACTRA was represented by Christopher, Ryan and Guyver (see above), David Baldwin with Victorian Paul Monks (2nd mens vets and 3rd overall) Tony Slatyer and Grant Battersby, Alexander Brett and Orietta Fitzsimmons. The event was won by Western Australians Paul Williams and David Symons.

2025 Murrumbidgee Wayfaring ARC  24hr event - do you want to help?‍

On 15-16 March 2025  ACTRA is hosting the next Australasian Rogaining Championships. Situated at the northern end of Long Plain in northern Kosciuszko National Park, this area features long unburnt tall forest with grassy plains.

David Baldwin and Julie Quinn are setting the course and we'd love people to help with the event. We will need people to help set up, at the Hash House, doing safety patrols (road and mountain bike), first aid, assisting with catering and generally helping rogainers have a good time. After the event, we will also need people to collect controls.

Please contact Julie via the website, on 0421 021 693 or catch her at the Spring event.
