The first event this year is th
 e annual twilight 3 hour rogaine on Saturday 21 February 2026 in the Cotter
  - Bullen Range area. The Hash House will be situated at Thompsons Flat, Co
 tter Dam recreational area. You may see emus and echidnas like our setters.

The area will feature fast fire trails, open dry bush, pine forest. Cli
 mbing the Bullen Range will reward you with fantastic views back to Canberr
 a as well as to the north and south. Will there be enough points to tempt y
 ou up there? Or will the points in the shady pines be where you go? \n

The event will run 5 pm to 8 pm. Maps will be available fro
 m 3:30 pm. Note this is later than 2025. Sunset will be at 7:51 pm so you w
 ill be finished while it is still light. \n

Medical advice: All competitors should 
 consider advising their partner of any pre-existing medical conditions (suc
 h as diabetes, asthma, epilepsy, susceptibility to anaphylaxis) that may re

 ny medication (such as sugar, ventolin, epi-pen, anti-histamines).

How to 
 Get There
The Hash House is located at the area officially known as Thompso
 n’s Flat but described in Google Maps as Cotter Dam Discovery Trail carpark
  area.\n
From the intersection of Cotter Rd and John Gorton Drive in the su
 burb of Wright follow Cotter Rd for 10.6 km to the single lane bridge over 
 the Murrumbidgee River. From there it's 1.5km to the entrance the HH area, 
 just over the single lane bridge over the Cotter River.\n

 ree as possible for use by the public for picnics/swimming etc.\n

 egistration, Map Availability, Start Times
The 3-hour 2026 Twilight event w
 ill commence by way of a mass start at 5.00pm sharp on Saturday 21 Feb 2026
 , with a final briefing at 4.45pm. Registration will open at 3.30pm.\n
To r
 egister, one person only per team to register and collect maps. That person
  will need to:\n

Bring first aid kit, so that it can be checked; see below
  for what it must contain
Bring one completed indemnity form per team membe
 r.

Electronic scoring: As this event is using the Navlight system of scori
 ng, each team member will be issued with a wristband and tag upon registrat
 ion.\n
You will also be given pre-marked maps, control descriptions, course
  setter's notes and a small copy of the map to be used as a flight plan. We
  recommend that you arrive at least an hour prior to the start of the event
  to allow enough time for final preparations and route planning. Each team 
 must mark their intended route on the flight plan and hand it in before sta
 rting. \n
Map and Course Details
There will be one A4 map, 1:25,000 with 10
  m contour interval. Magnetic north lines are marked on the map. Out of bou
 nds areas are marked in pink shading. It contains mainly native bush and pi
 ne forest with extensive spread of blackberry throughout. The course setter
 s notes and control descriptions have been printed on the back. The altitud
 e ranges from approximately 450 to 750m. \n
The map is printed on Teslin pa
 per which is very tough and generally does not need to be covered in contac
 t. \n
The blackberry is generally not too bad, but you will be lucky to get
  between any two controls without encountering at least some, so full leg c
 over is recommended.\n
Water
Please bring enough water for Hash House use a
 nd for 3 hours on course. There are no water drops on course. Paddys River 
 runs through the centre of the map but we do not recommend drinking any wat
 er found on course without sterilisation. There is not likely to be water i
 n any of the smaller marked watercourses. \n
Other Information
Hartley Life
 care will provide a meal at the finish from 7.30pm. Please bring your own p
 late, bowl, cup and cutlery.\n
Course setters saw echidnas and emus but no 
 snakes. Nevertheless snakes are sure to be about so take care. \n

Summary of Event Rules and Scoring

The only navigati
 onal aids permitted are the maps we provide together with your compasses.
T
 eams consist of 2 to 5 competitors and must remain within earshot of each o
 ther at all times. All members must simultaneously get to within 5m of each
  control point.
All team members must punch their Navlight tags at each con
 trol to score points.
If a Navlight punch has failed, record the three lett
 er code visible inside the end of the punch.
Competitors must not enter out
 -of-bounds areas; gates must be left as found; stock must not be disturbed.
 
The organisers may disqualify a team if it acts against these rules or aga
 inst the spirit of the event.
A team can retire a member at the hash house.
  This will finish that team's event. A new team can form but it must start 
 with zero score.
Late Penalty: 10 points per minute (or part) late. Disqual
 ification if more than 30 minutes late.
If teams score equal points then th
 e first team home will have a higher rank.
