The virtualgaine event area includes The Pinnacle, Mount Painter, Aranda Bushlands and Black Mountain nature reserve s, plus the suburbs of Weetangera, Macquarie, Cook and Aranda.
This i s a virtual event, which means that you can take part at any time and you'l l use the MapRun app on your phone or watch to record your visits to contro l sites. It's a four hour event, and you can enter individually or as a tea m. Make the most of the autumn sunshine and enjoy the great views as you ex plore our beautiful reserves. All you need is a map and a smart phone. A friend is also g ood!
If you are missing the post-event catering, there are good cafes nearby at Aranda shops, Cook shops and the Jamison Centre.
Virtual r ogaines use the MapRun6 App that can be downloaded to your smart phone. Eit her seach on your app store or go to the website that will direct you to the right App. Please download an d read these instructions on using MapRun6 to learn how to use the App. The App uses the GPS on your pho ne to work out you are at the control location. To score a control you will need to be within 10 m of the feature. Check your detailed control descrip tions as there will be no flags.
The MapRun6 App will show the map on your phone screen but if you prefer to be able to see the whole map, downl oad and print your own copy. Copies of the map will be printed on waterproo f Teslin and left at the Paddy Pallin store on Lonsdale Street, Braddon for you to collect from Tuesday 23 May. There are 350 maps, which should be pl enty but if they are all taken you will have to print your own.
Updat e for Monday 12 June: Please do not enter the Pinnacles Nature Reserve befo re 6 am and be out by 6 pm, due to the closure of the reserve.
