Come and explore the picturesque area around Mt Clear and Brayshaws hu
t for these events. The southern end of Namadgi National Park is beautiful
with open valleys, historic huts and other ruins and rocky outcrops. You'll
very likely hear one of the many lyrebirds out on the course!\n
The same c
ourse will be used for both events so you can practice your night navigatio
n before blitzing the course the following day.\n
Final Instructions
Thank
you for entering the Lured by Lyrebrids Night and/or Day Event on 10‑11 Sep
tember 2022. Team leaders, make sure that everyone on your team reads this
 whole document carefully.\n
Important
Allow 1.5 hours as a comfortable trav
el time from north Canberra to the Hash House. Watch for animals on the Bob
oyan road when driving – especially at evening/night and early morning. Cyc
lists also use the road regularly. Please consider carpooling as parking is
  limited.\n
COVID-19 Measures\n

\n - If you are awaiting the result of a C
OVID-19 test; or if you are feeling unwell, or have flu-like symptoms, plea
 se stay home.
\n - Touch points at the toilets will be cleaned regularly.
\
n - Please maintain a safe 1.5m distance from other teams - including while
doing your route planning, at the briefings, at the start and finish, and
 when approaching controls.

Indemnity Form\n
Please bring to the event a pr
inted and completed indemnity form located here (images/ACTRA_INDEMNITY_AND
_RELEASE_standard.pdf). Check the team list for your relevant event on the
home page to ensure that all details for your team including category are c
orrect. If incorrect, please contact the Event Contact prior to the event.\
 n

\n - Ensure that all team members sign a separate indemnity form. Parent
s or guardians must sign for people under 18. Also provide registration num
ber(s) of your car(s) at the Hash House. Be sure to put your team number on
  the form.
\n - Present your completed indemnity form at the registration d
 esk.
\n - Medical advice: All competitors should consider advising their pa
rtner of any pre‑existing medical conditions (such as diabetes, asthma, epi
lepsy, susceptibility to anaphylaxis) that may require first-aid action on
course. This should include a description of the symptoms, the required fir
st-aid action, and the location in their bag of any medication (such as sug
 ar, ventolin, epi-pen, anti-histamines).

How to Get There
The Hash House i
s located on the Boboyan road at the NSW/ACT boundary, approximately 4 km s
outh of the Mt Clear campground in Namadgi National Park. \n
Allow 1.5 hour
s as a comfortable travel time from North Canberra to the Hash House. Watch
for animals on the Boboyan road when driving – especially at evening/night
and early morning. Cyclists also use the road regularly.\n
From Canberra,
follow directions to Tharwa. Head south on the Boboyan road. While this roa
d is sealed for the first ~33 km (to just past Rendezvous Creek), there are
potholes in places. Be particularly aware of a large set of potholes acros
s the entire road on the downhill just after you have climbed Fitz’s Hill.\
 n
The dirt portion of the road (approximately another 20 km) is in relative
ly good condition with some potholes and corrugations.\n
Drive over the cat
tle-grid and park in the area west of the road or as directed. Parking is e
xtremely limited so carpooling is highly recommended.\n
The HH location on
google maps is here (https://goo.gl/maps/WyVKSgQjD5cY71bc9).  \n

  4:00pm. \n
The Day (6hr) Event will commence by way of a mass start at 9:3
0am sharp on Sunday 11 September, with a novice briefing at 9:20am and a fi
nal briefing at 9:25am. Registration will open at 7:30am.\n

 to:\n

\n - Bring first aid kit (per team), so that it can be checked; see
below for what it must contain
\n - Show you have a space blanket for each
person (will be available for purchase if required)
\n - Bring one complete
d indemnity form per team member

Electronic scoring - As this event is usi
ng the Navlight system of scoring, each team member will be issued with a w
 ristband and tag upon registration.\n
You will also be given pre-marked map
s, control descriptions, course setter's notes and a small copy of the map
to be used as a flight plan. We recommend that you arrive at least an hour
prior to the start of the event to allow enough time for final preparations
and route planning. Each team must mark their intended route on the flight
plan and hand it in before starting. \n
Map and Course Details
There will
be one A3 map (297x420mm), 1:25,000 with 10 m contour interval. Magnetic no
rth lines are marked on the map. Out of bounds areas are marked in red. The
control descriptions have been printed on the back. The map is printed on
Teslin paper which is very tough and generally does not need to be covered
 in contact.\n
The forest is generally fairly open, providing good visibilit
 y. Some sections have fallen trees/branches and there are also occasional d
ense patches of Cassinia (non-prickly but quite thick scrub). Gaitors and l
ong-pants are recommended. The course setters have indicated where you are
most likely to find this in their notes. The creek systems will have an abu
ndance of water so do expect to get wet feet.\n
Water
Please bring enough w
ater for Hash House use and for at least 3 hours on course. There is only o
ne water drop on the course. There is a pump that screws into the top of th
e water container to use. There is (a lot of!) water in the larger creeks o
n the course, but it should be sterilised if drunk.  Sterilisation tablets
will be available at the Hash House if needed, but consider bringing your o
wn method of sterilisation if you have it.  \n
Camping
Camping is available
on Saturday night at either the Hash House (on the private land on the NSW
side of the border) or a few minutes up the road at the Mt Clear Campgroun
 d. Camping fees are included in your entry fee. We encourage all night part
icipants to camp so that you are not driving home in the dark with the abun
dant wildlife in Namadgi National Park. Of course, for those day rogainers
who don't like a super-early start, come and camp Saturday night too!\n
If
you are camping at the Mt Clear Campground, please be economical with parki
ng as it is extremely limited. There is overflow parking 50m further on fro
m the campground at the gate to the Naas Valley Firetrail.\n
Other Informat
 ion

of-event feeds (part of your entry fee) they are offering a hot breakfast f

Summary of Event Rules and Scoring

\n - The only navigational aids permit
ted are the maps we provide together with your compasses.
\n - Teams consis
t of 2 to 5 competitors and must remain within earshot of each other at all
times. All members must simultaneously get to within 5m of each control po
 int.
\n - All team members must punch their Navlight tags at each control t
 o score points.
\n - The point values of each control are the ‘ten-value’ –
ie control 22 is worth 20 points, control 64 is worth 60 points, control 1
 01 is worth 100 points.
\n - If a Navlight punch has failed, record the thr
ee letter code visible inside the end of the punch.
\n - Competitors must n
ot enter out-of-bounds areas; gates must be left as found; stock must not b
 e disturbed.
\n - The organisers may disqualify a team if it acts against t
hese rules or against the spirit of the event.
\n - A team can retire a mem
ber at the hash house. This will finish that team's event. A new team can f
orm but it must start with zero score.
\n - Late Penalty: 10 points per min
ute (or part) late. Disqualification if more than 30 minutes late.
\n - If
teams score equal points then the first team home will have a higher rank.

10pm for the Night Event and 2:30pm for the Day Event. Please bring your ow
 n plate and utensils.\n
Prizes will be awarded to the winners of each categ
ory and certificates to the place-getters of most categories. This is depen
dent on final numbers and will be announced on the day. Presentations will
take place around 45 minutes after the end of the event.\n

ously get to within 5m of each control point.</li><li>All team members must
punch their Navlight tags at each control to score points.</li><li>The poi
nt values of each control are the ‘ten-value’ – ie control 22 is worth 20 p
oints, control 64 is worth 60 points, control 101 is worth 100 points.</li>
<li>If a Navlight punch has failed, record the three letter code visible in
side the end of the punch.</li><li>Competitors must not enter out-of-bounds
areas; gates must be left as found; stock must not be disturbed.</li><li>T
he organisers may disqualify a team if it acts against these rules or again
st the spirit of the event.</li><li>A team can retire a member at the hash
house. This will finish that team's event. A new team can form but it must
start with zero score.</li><li>Late Penalty: 10 points per minute (or part)
late. Disqualification if more than 30&nbsp;minutes late.</li><li>If teams
