 and explore the picturesque area around Mt Clear and Brayshaws hut for thes
 e events. The southern end of Namadgi National Park is beautiful with open 
 valleys, historic huts and other ruins and rocky outcrops. You'll very like
 ly hear one of the many lyrebirds out on the course!</p><p>The same course 
 will be used for both events so you can practice your night navigation befo
 re blitzing the course the following day.</p><h2>Final Instructions</h2><p>
 Thank you for entering the <strong>Lured by Lyrebrids Night and/or Day Even
 t</strong> on 10‑11&nbsp;September 2022. Team leaders, make sure that every
 one on your team reads this whole document carefully.</p><h3>Important</h3>
 <p>Allow 1.5 hours as a comfortable travel time from north Canberra to the 
 Hash House. Watch for animals on the Boboyan road when driving – especially
  at evening/night and early morning. Cyclists also use the road regularly. 
 Please consider carpooling as parking is limited.</p><p><strong>COVID-19 Me

 t; or if you are feeling unwell, or have flu-like symptoms, please stay hom

 g your route planning, at the briefings, at the start and finish, and when

 , epi-pen, anti-histamines).</li></ul><h3>How to Get There</h3><p>The Hash 
 House is located on the Boboyan road at the NSW/ACT boundary, approximately
  4 km south of the Mt Clear campground in Namadgi National Park.&nbsp;</p><
 p>Allow 1.5 hours as a comfortable travel time from North Canberra to the H
 ash House. Watch for animals on the Boboyan road when driving – especially 
 at evening/night and early morning. Cyclists also use the road regularly.</
 p><p>From Canberra, follow directions to Tharwa. Head south on the Boboyan 
 road. While this road is sealed for the first ~33 km (to just past Rendezvo
 us Creek), there are potholes in places. Be particularly aware of a large s
 et of potholes across the entire road on the downhill just after you have c
 limbed Fitz’s Hill.</p><p>The dirt portion of the road (approximately anoth
 er 20 km) is in relatively good condition with some potholes and corrugatio
 ns.</p><p>Drive over the cattle-grid and park in the area west of the road 
 or as directed. Parking is extremely limited so carpooling is highly recomm

  Start Times</h3><p>The&nbsp;<strong>Night (5hr) Event</strong> will commen
 ce by way of a mass start at&nbsp;<strong>6:00pm sharp&nbsp;</strong>on Sat
 urday 10&nbsp;September, with a <strong>novice briefing at 5:50pm</strong> 
 and a <strong>final briefing at&nbsp;5:55pm</strong>. Registration will ope
 n at <strong>4:00pm. </strong></p><p>The&nbsp;<strong>Day (6hr) Event </str
 ong>will commence by way of a mass start at&nbsp;<strong>9:30am sharp&nbsp;
 </strong>on Sunday 11&nbsp;September, with a <strong>novice briefing at 9:2
 0am</strong> and a <strong>final briefing at&nbsp;9:25am</strong>. Registra
 tion will open at <strong>7:30am</strong>.</p><p>To register, one person on
 ly per team to register and collect maps. That person will need to:</p><ul>
 <li>Bring first aid kit (per team), so that it can be checked; see below fo
 r what it must contain</li><li>Show you have a space blanket for each perso
 n (will be available for purchase if required)</li><li>Bring one completed 
 indemnity form per team member</li></ul><p><strong>Electronic scoring</stro
 ng>&nbsp;- As this event is using the Navlight system of scoring, each team
  member will be issued with a wristband and tag upon registration.</p><p>Yo
 u will also be given pre-marked maps, control descriptions, course setter's
  notes and a small copy of the map to be used as a flight plan. We recommen
 d that you arrive at least an hour prior to the start of the event to allow
  enough time for final preparations and route planning. Each team must mark
  their intended route on the flight plan and hand it in before starting.&nb
 sp;</p><h3>Map and Course Details</h3><p>There will be one A3 map (297x420m
 m), 1:25,000 with 10 m contour interval. Magnetic north lines are marked on
  the map. Out of bounds areas are marked in red. The control descriptions h
 ave been printed on the back. The map is printed on Teslin paper which is v
 ery tough and generally does not need to be covered in contact.</p><p>The f
 orest is generally fairly open, providing good visibility. Some sections ha
 ve fallen trees/branches and there are also occasional dense patches of Cas
 sinia (non-prickly but quite thick scrub). Gaitors and long-pants are recom
 mended. The course setters have indicated where you are most likely to find
  this in their notes. The creek systems will have an abundance of water so 
 do expect to get wet feet.</p><h3>Water</h3><p>Please bring enough water fo
 r Hash House use and for at least&nbsp;3 hours&nbsp;on course. There is onl
 y one water drop on the course. There is a pump that screws into the top of
  the water container to use. There is (a lot of!) water in the larger creek
 s on the course, but it should be sterilised if drunk. &nbsp;Sterilisation 
 tablets will be available at the Hash House if needed, but consider bringin
 g your own method of sterilisation if you have it. &nbsp;</p><h3>Camping</h
 3><p>Camping is available&nbsp;on Saturday night at either the Hash House (
 on the private land on the NSW side of the border) or a few minutes up the 
 road at the Mt Clear Campground. Camping fees are included in your entry fe
 e. We encourage all night participants to camp so that you are not driving 
 home in the dark with the abundant wildlife in Namadgi National Park. Of co
 urse, for those day rogainers who don't like a super-early start, come and 
 camp Saturday night too!</p><p>If you are camping at the Mt Clear Campgroun
 d, please be economical with parking as it is extremely limited. There is o
 verflow parking 50m further on from the campground at the gate to the Naas 
 Valley Firetrail.</p><h3>Other Information</h3><p>Catering is being provide
 d by Hartley Lifecare. In addition to the end-of-event feeds (part of your 
 entry fee) they are offering a&nbsp;hot breakfast for pre-orders&nbsp;- a b
 argain at just $5 per person.&nbsp; Porridge, egg and bacon rolls are on th
 e menu. Pre-orders must be made with your entry.</p><h3>Please Bring to the

 ><p>The Hash House number will be 0147 148 005 (satellite phone) and is pri
 nted on the map.</p><h3>Summary of Event Rules and Scoring</h3><ul><li>The 
 only navigational aids permitted are the maps we provide together with your
  compasses.</li><li>Teams consist of 2 to 5 competitors and must remain wit
 hin earshot of each other at all times. All members must simultaneously get
  to within 5m of each control point.</li><li>All team members must punch th
 eir Navlight tags at each control to score points.</li><li>The point values
  of each control are the ‘ten-value’ – ie control 22 is worth 20 points, co
 ntrol 64 is worth 60 points, control 101 is worth 100 points.</li><li>If a 
 Navlight punch has failed, record the three letter code visible inside the 
 end of the punch.</li><li>Competitors must not enter out-of-bounds areas; g
 ates must be left as found; stock must not be disturbed.</li><li>The organi
 sers may disqualify a team if it acts against these rules or against the sp
 irit of the event.</li><li>A team can retire a member at the hash house. Th
 is will finish that team's event. A new team can form but it must start wit
 h zero score.</li><li>Late Penalty: 10 points per minute (or part) late. Di
 squalification if more than 30&nbsp;minutes late.</li><li>If teams score eq
 ual points then the first team home will have a higher rank.</li></ul><h3>P
 resentation and Awards</h3><p>Post-event food and drinks will be available 
 from 10pm for the Night Event and 2:30pm for the Day Event. Please bring yo

 amping</h3><p>Camping is available&nbsp;on Saturday night at either the Has
 h House (on the private land on the NSW side of the border) or a few minute
 s up the road at the Mt Clear Campground. Camping fees are included in your
  entry fee. We encourage all night participants to camp so that you are not
  driving home in the dark with the abundant wildlife in Namadgi National Pa
 rk. Of course, for those day rogainers who don't like a super-early start, 
 come and camp Saturday night too!</p><p>If you are camping at the Mt Clear 
 Campground, please be economical with parking as it is extremely limited. T
 here is overflow parking 50m further on from the campground at the gate to 
 the Naas Valley Firetrail.</p><h3>Other Information</h3><p>Catering is bein
 g provided by Hartley Lifecare. In addition to the end-of-event feeds (part
  of your entry fee) they are offering a&nbsp;hot breakfast for pre-orders&n
 bsp;- a bargain at just $5 per person.&nbsp; Porridge, egg and bacon rolls

 ></ul><h3>Mobile Phone Coverage</h3><p>Mobile phone coverage is not good on
  the course or at the Hash House. If you have an emergency or need to conta
 ct the event coordinator on the day of the event, consider sending an SMS. 
 &nbsp;</p><p>The Hash House number will be 0147 148 005 (satellite phone) a
 nd is printed on the map.</p><h3>Summary of Event Rules and Scoring</h3><ul
 ><li>The only navigational aids permitted are the maps we provide together 
 with your compasses.</li><li>Teams consist of 2 to 5 competitors and must r
 emain within earshot of each other at all times. All members must simultane
 ously get to within 5m of each control point.</li><li>All team members must
  punch their Navlight tags at each control to score points.</li><li>The poi
 nt values of each control are the ‘ten-value’ – ie control 22 is worth 20 p
 oints, control 64 is worth 60 points, control 101 is worth 100 points.</li>
 <li>If a Navlight punch has failed, record the three letter code visible in
 side the end of the punch.</li><li>Competitors must not enter out-of-bounds
  areas; gates must be left as found; stock must not be disturbed.</li><li>T
 he organisers may disqualify a team if it acts against these rules or again
 st the spirit of the event.</li><li>A team can retire a member at the hash 
 house. This will finish that team's event. A new team can form but it must 
 start with zero score.</li><li>Late Penalty: 10 points per minute (or part)
  late. Disqualification if more than 30&nbsp;minutes late.</li><li>If teams
  score equal points then the first team home will have a higher rank.</li><
 /ul><h3>Presentation and Awards</h3><p>Post-event food and drinks will be a
 vailable from 10pm for the Night Event and 2:30pm for the Day Event. Please
  bring your own plate and utensils.</p><p>Prizes will be awarded to the win
 ners of each category and certificates to the place-getters of most categor
 ies. This is dependent on final numbers and will be announced on the day. P
 resentations will take place around 45 minutes after the end of the event.<
