Winter is well and truly coming! What better way to stay warm then a mea
 nder around Kowen Forest for the 2022 ACTRA winter 4 hour! The course will 
 cover the northern part of the forest with a mixture of pine and native for
 est. The course has been set so if you want to avoid the big hills you can,
  but still provide a challenge for those looking for a session. This event 
 is generously supported by the ACT government and is always an event not to
  be missed!\n

Please bring to the event a printed and completed i
 ndemnity form located here (images/ACTRA_INDEMNITY_AND_RELEASE_standard.pdf
 ). Check the team list for your relevant event on the home page to ensure t
 hat all details for your team including category are correct. If incorrect,

Ensure that all t
 eam members sign a separate indemnity form. Parents or guardians must sign 
 for people under 18. Also provide registration number(s) of your car(s) at 
 the Hash House. Be sure to put your team number on the form. 
Present your

Medical advice: All comp
 etitors should consider advising their partner of any pre-existing medical 
 conditions (such as diabetes, asthma, epilepsy, susceptibility to anaphylax
 is) that may require first-aid action on course. This should include a desc
 ription of the symptoms, the required first-aid action, and the location in
  their bag of any medication (such as sugar, ventolin, epi-pen, anti-histam

How to Get There
The Hash House is located adjacent to Kowen Road i
 n Kowen forest.\n
From Canberra, drive towards Queanbeyan along Pialligo av
 enue past the airport. Turn left onto Sutton Road (if you enter Queanbeyan 
 then you’ve gone to far). Drive for 1.5 km along Sutton road and take a rig
 ht onto Kowen road. Follow the road to the end at the locked gate where a v
 olunteer will be present to open the gate for you. PLEASE NOTE THE ARRIVAL 
 AND DEPARTURE TIMES AT THE TOP OF THESE INSTRUCTIONS! Follow Kowen Road for
  4km to the HH. \n

The Winter 4 hour event will commence by way of a mass sta
 rt at 10:00 sharp on Sunday 3 July, with a final briefing at 09:45. Registr
 ation will open at 09:00.\n
To register, one person only per team to regist
 er and collect maps. That person will need to:\n

Electronic scoring: As this event is us
 ing the Navlight system of scoring, each team member will be issued with a 
 wristband and tag upon registration.\n
You will also be given pre-marked ma
 ps, control descriptions, course setter's notes and a small copy of the map
  to be used as a flight plan. We recommend that you arrive at least an hour
  prior to the start of the event to allow enough time for final preparation
 s and route planning. Each team must mark their intended route on the fligh
 t plan and hand it in before starting. \n
Map and Course Details
There will
  be one A3 map (210x420cm), 1:20,000 with 10 m contour interval. Magnetic n
 orth lines are marked on the map. Out of bounds areas are marked in pink sh
 ading. It contains mainly pine forest with small areas of cleared land and 
 native bush. The course setters notes and control descriptions have been pr
 inted on the back. The altitude ranges from approximately 600 to 900 m. \n

 The map is printed on Teslin paper which is very tough and generally does n
 ot need to be covered in contact. \n
The undergrowth is mostly open with se
 ctions of blackberry bushes, gaiters are recommended. \n
Water
Please bring
  enough water for Hash House use and for at least 4 hours on course. There 
 are no water drops on the course. There is likely to be water in some creek
 s on course, but would require sterilisation. \n

 Lifecare will provide a meal at from 13:30. Please bring your own plate, bo

 Summary of Event Rules and Sco
 ring

The only navigational aids permitted are the maps we provide together
  with your compasses.
Teams consist of 2 to 5 competitors and must remain w
 ithin earshot of each other at all times. All members must simultaneously g
 et to within 5m of each control point.
All team members must punch their Na
 vlight tags at each control to score points.
If a Navlight punch has failed
 , record the three letter code visible inside the end of the punch.
Competi
 tors must not enter out-of-bounds areas; gates must be left as found; stock
  must not be disturbed.
The organisers may disqualify a team if it acts aga
 inst these rules or against the spirit of the event.
A team can retire a me
 mber at the hash house. This will finish that team's event. A new team can 
 form but it must start with zero score.
Late Penalty: 10 points per minute 
 (or part) late. Disqualification if more than 30 minutes late.
If teams sco
 re equal points then the first team home will have a higher rank.

Food and drinks will be available from 13:30 time. Please b
