ACT ROGAINING ASSOCIATION
Mt Rogers MapRun Mayhem - results

KazBurton

A huge thank you to Jon Glanville for setting a super virtual rogaine on Mt Rogers. Holding the event over ten days made for some exciting armchair rogaining, especially watching the superfast people getting around in under 2 hours! Thanks too for those of you who sent in photos of people out on the course. Check out the Facebook page to have a look at these.

Results against teams are posted as a PDF on the website. If you want to look at tracks of where people went check out the MapRun Results. Ian Elz has done some control visit analysis that you can see as a bar graph and a map on the website.

Congratulations to Tomas Krajca who just pipped Martin Dent and Mark Bourne to win outright. Ryan Stocks was third and first Mens Youth (under 23 years). Kathie Dent, Shannon Jones, Allison Jones, Susie Sprague took out the womens and Steven Hanley, Melissa Clarke, Trevor Jacobs took out the mixed. Trevor enjoyed the event so much he came back with his family. The Millers – Kevin, Celina, Jacob and Chloe took out the family category.

We think the format worked well with the MapRunF app for checkpoints and to record your event. We would love your feedback on how it went for you. Send Julie an email.

You might have noticed your GPS track jumping off to a random place somewhere else or you getting a distance much further than you thought you walked/ran. This is just a function of GPS locating and would be ideal if it could be edited out – perhaps another version of MapRun. Fortunately it does not affect your score at all.

Spot prizes – Sutmap pocket sized mountain map series

SutMap

Victorian rogainer Jon Sutcliffe participated in the Mt Rogers MapRun Mayhem event. He generously donated four sets of his Sutmap handy pocket sized mountain maps of Mount Kosciuszko, Schlink Pass and Mount Jagungal at 1:40,000 for event prizes. One set has been given to our super setter and MapRunF hero Jon Glanville. The other three sets are given to, on a random draw…virtual drum roll here…

Team 130 Johann Wagner and Steve Philips

Team 50 Craig Wisdom

Team 39 Amelia Walton and Daniel Green

Thank you Jon Sutcliffe.

Winter 4 hr – our next event

2019PPimage

Tom Banks is working on our next event to be held on or around 12 July. Obviously we’d love to have a regular format event and, depending on COVID-19 pandemic restrictions, we might be able to do so. Maybe with staggered starts, perhaps with or without a delicious Hartley Lifecare feed at the end, but with guaranteed some fun with friends. Keep an eye on the website and Facebook page. Tom will drip-feed us with teasers about the event while he navigates around the organising. The tip on the street is he is hoping to head Jerrabomberra way, but this is to be confirmed.
