Night/Day/Cycle Entry Open |
|
|
Entries are open for the Night, Day and Cyclegaine, 19 and 20 September! We invite you to take in the scenic Tallaganda State Forest on foot or on wheels, or do maybe do both! Â
Much of the course has not been used for rogaining in many years so there's great opportunity to get out in some unfamiliar terrain, not too far from home. Camping is available at the Hash House overnight. Â
Entry is $53 full, $42 concession; with $10 late fee from Monday 14 September. Entries close midnight Wednesday 16th September.

Australasian Championships Wrap Up |

C‍ongratulations to all the ACT teams that performed superbly at the Australasian Championships in Queensland last weekend! Participants were treated to a diverse course, ranging from open pasture land to steep spur and gully country. Rogainers were also treated to the opportunity to spot a broad range of wildlife. Â
The ACT's results were led by David Baldwin and Julie Quinn, who came an impressive 8th overall and 3rd in Mixed Open. Another highlight was Toby Hauber, Nicholas Brennan and Jace Nepean, who representing the Australian National University won the intervarsity competition and men's youth category. Â

Over 300 rogainers braved the wet and cold on 9 August to participate in the Weston Wanderer Metrogaine. We're sure many of the cafes marked on the map received extra patronage as rogainers sought hot drinks to recharge before braving the outsides again. Â
The course was wide ranging, taking in urban nature reserves to following bike paths along major roads. Congratulations to Ryan Stocks, who cleared the course, luckily visiting every control before one was stolen in the hours following the event. Â
Congratulations must also go to Wendy Emerton for coordinating the event, and all the other volunteers who made it possible. |

Spring Challenge Rogaine Entry Open |
|
|
Entries are open to this year’s Spring Challenge, set in the spectacular Central Tablelands. Centred in the scenic Gurnang State Forest and extending into the western edge of the Blue Mountains National Park, this event offers competitors access to truly superb rogaining country. Participants will navigate through a beautiful mix of native eucalypt forests and mature pine plantations, both featuring a remarkably open understory. The terrain varies from flat with subtle features to steeper hills with well-defined spurs and gullies. The course has been set with navigational challenges tailored for both novice and experienced teams alike. Whether you plan to walk or run, the open terrain makes moving through this unique landscape an absolute pleasure. The area is home to some amazing wildlife, and if you are lucky, you might spot wombats in full daylight, or greater gliders after dark.Â
Entry fees are $90 full and $65 concession, under 14s free.

The Australian Rogaining Association (ARA) recently held its AGM, which was a great opportunity to catch up with representatives from the other state rogaining associations. The calendar of future Australasian Championship events was discussed, with next year’s event in Tasmania shaping up well for mid-April 2027. Congratulations to the ARA Executive, who were all re-elected to continue in their roles for another three-year term. The ACTRA Committee has also been hard at work putting together our calendar of events for 2027, which we’re excited to share with you all soon. It looks like 2027 is going to be a great year, with all our usual events, as well as a navigation workshop. We’ll also be hosting the Spring ACT-NSW Interstate Challenge event, so there’s plenty to look forward to! Happy rogaining, Ollie James |

2027 WRC Bulletin 2 Available |

Bulletin 2 of the 2027 World Rogaining Championships was recently released. It provides further informaiton about the event and course, which will be held in just over a year's time. It also contains a preview of some of the merch that will be available. Â Mark your calendar for 1 October, when entry opens. However, if you don't feel like competing but would be keen to help out, the ARA is looking for volunteers. If you'd be keen, please contact Julie using the button below. |

50th Anniversary Rogaine 25-26 September |
|
In 1976, the first ever rogaine was held in Tallarook State Forest, not far north from Melbourne. 50 years later, the Victorian Rogaining Association is celebrating this milestone by hosting the Nigel Aylott 24hr Victorian Rogaining Championships in the same location. Â
In addition to the 24 hour event, there will also be a 6 hour, and 15 in 24 hour events held. Â
