Metrogaine Entry Closing Soon |

Get your entries in quick for the Weston Wanderer 6 hour rogaine, which will be held on Sunday 9 August!
This will be a uniquely Canberra adventure, taking in the suburbs, nature reserves and icons of the capital.
Entries cost $47 full and $37 concession. Under 14s are free. This is also your only chance in the ACTRA calendar to compete for individual glory (but teams of 2-5 also very welcome). Entries are open to 11:59 pm Sunday 2 August without late fees. Entries received between then and complete close at 11:59 pm on Wednesday 5 August incur a late fee of $10 per person. |

Night/Day/Cyclegaine 19-20 September |

Mark your calendars for September 19 and 20 for one of the most anticipated events of the year, the Night/Day/Cyclegaine, which will be held in Tallaganda State Forest, an hour's drive from Canberra. Camping will (likely) be available at the Hash House, making it easy to do the night and then day events.
The course setters have included a strong emphasis on making the course bikable, so if you've got a mountain or gravel bike, this won't be an event to miss!

The Winter 4 hr event was held in the east Kowen Forest, a favourite rogaining area. There were fast fire trails, tall or very short pine areas, some open grassland, a smattering of native vegetation and a bit of history. The weather was a perfect fine winter's day revealing fantastic views of the Brindabellas, as well as lots of frosty patches and frozen puddles.
Congratulations to Ryan Stocks and Guyver Fu for first overall, Christopher Bradley, Dylan Hull and Sophie Radajewski for a mixed open win and Heather Logie, Susie Sprague and Selina Stoute for a womens open win. Of course, there are also many winners in our age categories to take a look at the results and many of the winners are also featured in the photo gallery. |

As well as having a great time out at the Kowen Winter 4hr, it's been exciting to see ACT rogainers travelling further afield to compete in interstate 24-hour events. A couple of ACT teams made the trip to the South Australian Championships in the Bendleby Ranges of the Southern Flinders at the end of June, as well as the NSW Championships in Olney State Forest in the Watagan Mountains.
I headed over to the South Australian Championships hoping to get in some practice for the World Rogaining Championship next year, and my team had a great time exploring a completely new area with sparse vegetation and rocky terrain making it quite different from what we're used to in our local 24-hour rogaines. The event began with overcast skies and very wet ankle-high weeds that gave us soaked socks for the duration of the event, before thick fog rolled in overnight, making for challenging night-time navigation. We certainly weren't the only ones caught out – we managed to get thoroughly lost shortly after running into fellow ACT committee members David and Julie, as both our teams tried to find the right gully!
I also enjoyed reading the Q&A with SA Champs Overall Winners Jonty and Tiaan McKinnel from New Zealand. They share some excellent insights into navigation, route planning, and fuelling strategies for longer events. If you're considering stepping up to a 24-hour rogaine, it's well worth a read.

50th Anniversary Rogaine 25-26 September |
|
In 1976, the first ever rogaine was held in Tallarook State Forest, not far north from Melbourne. 50 years later, the Victorian Rogaining Association is celebrating this milestone by hosting the Nigel Aylott 24hr Victorian Rogaining Championships in the same location.
In addition to the 24 hour event, there will also be a 6 hour, and 15 in 24 hour events held.

2026 Australasian Championship Entries Closing Soon |

There's still time to get in for the Australasian Champs, to be held in South East Queensland on 29-30 August.
Early entry closes midnight 2 August, and final entry closes on 15 August. |

2027 World Rogaining Championships Entries Open Soon |
|
|
We're still excitedly counting down to next year's World Championships, which will be held 16-17 September 2027 in South Australia.
Although it may be a year away, it's time to start thinking about whether you'd like to enter. Pre-qualified team entry opens on 1 September, and general entry opens on 1 October. |
